The Yellow Slowing Kid. Came out of nowhere. I was surprised, scared even. I almost screamed like a wet alligator. “What in the world are you doing out at this time?!?!” I asked. “What, I can’t be out at this time because you get scared like an alligator?” The kid answered back with the same question I always ask others. “How in the world did it know I was thinking of an alligator?” I thought to myself.
Before I could say anything, the kid started to walk across the road. It was actually a relief, as I did not know what to say. It was a very interesting sight. It was not clear if the “SLOW” sign on the stomach of the kid was to tell others to slow down, or to tell others that the kid was slow. Maybe it was to tell me I was slow.
I am in the house now, writing about the kid, while the kid is out there, still yellow, still wearing a red cap, and still looking forward to becoming “The Glowing Green Kid.”
We will cross paths again, kid. Hopefully then I will know something smart to say back. Hopefully then I will not be slow.
