No Parking to See the Sun

Looking at the sun is a very interesting thing for me. Sure, it’s one of the stupidest things you can do to go blind or get an awesome headache. I know whenever I look at it even remotely I become dazed and confused. The reason I find it interesting is because when given the chance, I tend to naturally and instantly look at the sun only to realize what I’ve done. The funny thing is, when I’m blinded by it, I don’t blame myself but I always end up blaming looking at it without caution. I usually like wearing sunglasses not to hide from the sun but to protect my eyes in case I look at it. I never even realized I looked at it so much until I started writing about it in this post.
This picture was taken near the highest tip of Mount Diablo in Clayton, California. My first focus was taking picture of the sun, which the camera wouldn’t do to my satisfaction. Then I decided to take a picture of this “No Parking” sign. The sun was behind, and the rest is history. Or the rest is what you see here. The contrast is beautiful. I love a certain kincontrasts, and this
I simply love how even looking at the sun in this picture at full brightness makes me go a bit blind. It could be my laptop’s brightness setting, though. I have to stop and take some rest now. And close my watery eyes for a while.
Do you usually look at the sun or take pics of things against the sun?
“IT is Bes.”

IT is coming for you,
you better run and hide.
For hiding gives you time,
before IT starts your demise.
IT is coming for you,
for Halloween is the night.
You better start thinking,
for the plan is full of fright.
IT is coming for you,
you better not shout out.
For any sound may start,
the real reality and doubt.
IT is coming for you,
you never knew all along.
That the story had started,
and that life may not be for long.
IT is coming for you,
calling anyone will bring the end.
No time to tweet or ask on Facebook,
if anyone is willing to help you as a friend.
IT is coming for you,
turn off and dim the main light.
For the light will turn on and off by itself,
to start the process of the real fight.
IT is coming for you,
no time to warn anyone else.
Either you save your own self,
or start smelling like a rotten body smell.
IT is coming for you,
you wonder why you will die.
No place to hide in a building,
and no place to hide out under the sky.
IT is coming for you,
time to spread the fear is getting less.
Save yourself and hope for a train,
IT is Bes.

“Sky watches Sun and Clouds battle.”

Sky watches Sun and Clouds battle.
Get the popcorn and buy a ticket,
for the sky is sitting around,
the greatest battle of the day is here,
between the sun and the clouds.
There is no need for special effects,
this move one has a natural feel,
light and shadows collide brilliantly,
to create the wheel of life and zeal.
Funny, that this may not be mentioned,
on your social networks and in e-mails,
Facebook and MySpace will not hold their breath,
and Digg and Twitter will simply talk about whales.
Come, living creatures,
you can also watch if you want to,
figure out if the sun will come up,
or if the clouds will push it down the view.
This happened when Window 95 came out,
and this happened way before it too,
this happened when apples fell to the ground,
and this happened way before that too.
A big battle is raging on here,
one that affects you all everyday,
the clouds and the sun go at it repeatedly,
like life itself praying on preying on the prey.
You can watch this while you drive,
and die while marveling at the beauty,
you can take pictures to hold on for a while,
and feel like Flickr memories are your duty.
So sit and enjoy, for what you are about to see,
may keep on happening, even after you are gone,
or maybe it will stop, and an outcome will be seen,
in your lifetime, to this battle for the night rages on.

“Light can take away life.”

Light can take away life - by Bes Zain
The Ferrero Rocher chocolate element is probably the most important and favorite chocolate in my life. It makes me happy when I eat it, by adding to the happiness. It is very nice to eat, and unwrapping the chocolate wrapper adds to the fun. The process of opening up the chocolate, in order to eat it, is very short, and that allows me to spend more time eating chocolate instead of just looking at the process in order to glamorize it.
One day, in July of 2009, while eating the chocolate given to me as a gift by my friend Katie, I decided to take some pictures. In the heat, outside in the patio, I put the chocolates in a pattern that you see in the picture. I was making a design, with one layer of chocolate exposed to the sun and the other hidden from it. I knew I had to take the picture quickly, before the awesomely yummy chocolate started melting. That made me think about something.
The light, while so flavorful in the eyes of many, is also slowly taking away our life.
Take my life away,
for you are the glamorizing light,
you are appreciated by the majority,
because of you the majority hides from the night.
The one that started it all,
could have been just a thought,
I prefer shadows to the light,
and I wonder if shadows can be had without light?
Sure the night can exist without light,
I realize with all the might,
darkness and the shadows have more layers,
than probably there ever could be in any light.
“Let us seek the light, and be active in the sun“,
whenever I hear that, I plan for the night and a lot of fun,
It is all right, you can think anything without affecting others,
You can keep your light, as long as it does not interfere with my night.
Can things be relative, or is everything absolute?
If we need light at any point in life, does that mean light is the proof?
Can we need light at some points, while wanting the night all the time?
Can we simply be whatever we feel like, being the night and a nightly mime?
The beautiful things in life, can be pushed away with typical things,
the light is not always the answer, nor should it be a usual thing,
life is simply about fun and living it, and then talking a bit about it for the fun,
though talking about life a bit can also help in living a life away from the light and the sun.

“THE PATH TO LIFE IS MADE UP OF LIFE”

Everyone wants a life,
something with money, sugar, and salt,
everyone talks about the life,
this is a life with a lot of talk.
If you have money, then you surely have it,
the money brings life, life to enjoy it,
if you suffer today and work for tomorrow,
you are surely to have money and no sorrow.
If you are poor, then you surely have it,
the poorness brings humbleness and wisdom too,
if you suffer today and also tomorrow,
you have patience, peace, and are forever happy too.
For me, all of those are just talks,
talking about things just to impress,
for me, there is no life plan and no life work,
for the plan and the path is life itself.

“I’m turquoise too”

Full version. Also on Flickr.
I was outside Target. Interest in shopping, capitalism, stickers, summer clothes, commercialism, specials, food, discounts and more: whatever the reason, people were probably in the Target shopping lot because of some reason. I was taking pictures of everything around me when I came across this dual light lamp post.
Taking pictures of anything when others are watching creates different assumptions in the minds of those people. Why would this person be taking pictures at Target? Why is this person taking pictures in a parking lot? Why is this person using a Canon PowerShot A410 camera to take pictures – aren’t those cameras just point and shoot designed to take pictures of birthday parties and smiling people? What could possible be captured in that camera that cannot be seen simply looking up? People kept looking at me from left and right, and through glances too. If I had an SLR with an optical lens the size of a hunting rifle, many people would have wanted to be in the picture. However, with the smaller, silvery camera, people simply wonder why such a camera holder is allowed to take pictures.
In my view, the only one not to have any assumptions was the lamp post itself. The dual-light lamp post did not have any assumptions about me or my camera. It just had one thing to say: “I’m turquoise too.” It looked very powerful and complex against the very elegantly smooth, yet confusingly simple, sky.
It was only after I took the picture that I realized that the left part of the light was actually appearing to be turquoise. I have more than one picture and the left part appears turquoise in all of them.
This was taken in Albany near a Target parking lot.

I noticed this in San Francisco. I am not sure if it was the weight that caught my eye, the width, the design, or simply its existence. I should probably avoid saying that the fatness caught my attention, yes? Or no? Regardless, I think, this picture was taken while climbing down a set of stairs. Or was it up? Ok, I am not sure anymore, though I know I stopped near the bottom of the stairs, or the beginning, and took this picture.
The Lone Stand Light
Full version. Also on Flickr.
The existence of contrasting elements in the universe, and things outside of the universe, result in more disagreements than the creation of the feelings of awe and interest, and the feeling that maybe contrasting elements are at the same time related directly and similar, among observers of different kinds. One of such contrasting elements is the idea of minimalism. In simple terms, it is the idea of something existing in a minimal form where external elements, like backgrounds or different characters in a picture, do not confuse an observer when it comes to observing a single specific theme in a picture. Minimalism can be in many things including pictures. Me talking about minimalism in such confusing terms can be considered both a minimalistic form of confusing myself, and also a contrast to the very idea of minimalism.
On a very beautiful, cold and foggy day in Berkeley, I ran across this light. A stand, to be more precise. Or maybe a light stand. This light shines at night, to try to show the way to anyone who approaches it from near or from far, directly or indirectly. This very stand, not seen at all from a 60 second walking distance, suddenly unveiled itself in front of me when I was walking to the nearby hill edge stop sign. The fog made it hard to clearly look at the inner details of this stop light sign. Maybe that is what I needed to discover, for the stand light had very impressively shown how it compares against the background with its firm stand. I did, however, notice that as I came closer, the actual image that I had from the far was still there, while I also saw finer details, like rusting off the stand in one spots, 2 light bulb spot reflection dots, and a reddish sticker sticking near the top, which you can see on the stand in the full larger picture.
The shining circular light – an angle

Like other things in life, it seems to be sitting in the same place all the time. A very circular, sophisticated-exterior owning of a light bulb. The cover on the outside does two things: add brightness in the surrounding area, and for anyone looking at the light, create a form of complexity that any observer can maybe admire and learn from.
When you are close to the light, you realize how dark other things around the light are, and how hard the light is working at making everything visible in a bit better perception around us. It made me wonder about a lot of things, including whether it was yellow light from within, or if the outer cover was yellow that transformed the original light into a new color. I wonder if the bulb inside feels lonely and wonders who may or may not be looking at it or thinking about it. At least now it will know that I thought about it. ![]()
